DISCOVERING ROMANIA

WELCOME TO ROMANIA

I dedicate this page to all our friends from abroad.

The idea started from a friend who said : “this blog is like discovering Romania”… Indirectly, he gave me this idea and this is why I am saying: thank you for that!
I begin by specifying that Romania is not a country of thieves or beggars, as often is wrong labeled. We have beautiful things and ugly things, like any other country. We don’t have good paved roads, we don’t have some well defined marks on mountain routes, BUT we do have wild places who could take your breath by their beauty, charm and uniqueness, we have enough guides who can show you these places and including well-developed tourist maps.

However, it is recommended to go on your trips, with the people who have made already these roads and NOT unaccompanied. Overall, Romania is a blessed country. We have Black Sea (and resorts such as Mamaia, Neptun, Mangalia, Jupiter, Saturn, Eforie etc)

We have resorts to the Danube Delta (Jurilovca, Crișan, Mahmudia, Mila- a Lippovan village, Sf. Gheorghe)

We have  balneary and treatment resorts all over the country (Covasna, Ialomița-Amara resort- Băile Herculane)

Amara resort

Băile Herculane

We have salinas (Slănic Prahova)

We have museums or castles ( Brukenthal Museum Sibiu, Astra Museum Sibiu, The Village Museum Bucharest, The Râșnov Fortress, The Brașov Fortress, The Fortress of a thousand steps, The Peleș Castle, The Bran Castle etc….), we have many hill resorts (Șirnea, Fundata, Peștera, Moeciu)

Peleș Castle

Brașov Fortress

Bran Castle

Șirnea resort

Fundata resort

We have monasteries (Argeș, Putna, Voroneț)

PUTNA

We have mountain resorts  or cities (Bușteni, Plaiul Foii, Bâlea Lac, Râșnov, Brașov etc).
Brașov city

Or medieval cities (Sibiu, Sighișoara)

SIGHIȘOARA CITY

Or regions where the traditions are still preserved (Maramureș, Bucovina)
MARAMUREȘ

BUCOVINA

 And even waterfalls or caves...

And we have the most beautiful and wild mountains in the whole world!

However, do NOT expect traveling without adventures because the roads and the transports are NOT                 well-developed and that might create you a lot of trouble. This is why I strongly recommend you a roumanian guide or an agency travel who can offer you the safety and the appropriate transport.
Because this blog is dedicated to our passion for the mountain trips, I’ll speak, in this page about the mountain cities- who deserves to be discovered, and about trekking. I will specify the necessary means of transportation, and the difficulty in some trekking routes.

So, this is the real face of Romania and I have to say that I love my country and I am proud of it!

  • Coming next: Three mountain cities: Brașov (Poiana Brașov), Sighișoara, Sibiu(Păltiniș)
